VBS.TV sends hipsters to Colombia to find Burundanga
Burundanga — also known as Scopolamine — is a powerful hypnotic substance found in historical and contemporary Colombia. I ran across coverage organized by VBS.TV recently who sent two hipster reporters to film an episodic documentary where they attempt to score some Scopolamine. Below are links to the documentary and a very brief synopsis of each episode. If you choose to follow the links, you can start at the beginning, and each successive episode will autoload.
- Colombian Devil's Breath Part 1 [2:56 min]
Arrival to Bogota, film from above, ride along with drug dealer. Ryan Duffy reporting. - Colombian Devil's Breath Part 2 [5:30 min]
- Colombian Devil's Breath Part 3 [4:05 min]
- Colombian Devil's Breath Part 4 [4:53 min]
Interview with Scopolamine victim, interview with scopolamine researcher, purchase of scopolamine on the street. - Colombian Devil's Breath Part 5 [3:04 min]
Historic usage of scopolamine (filmed in the Museo del Oro), interview with captain of the national police about methods employed by gangs. - Colombian Devil's Breath Part 6 [4:39 min]
Club culture, interview with male scopolamine victim, interview with prostitute who has used it on her johns. - Colombian Devil's Breath Part 7 [4:30 min]
Welcome to Locombia, drug dealer finds a tree growing wild in the city, contingued interview with male victim and prostitute who was also victimized by/through scopolamine. - Colombian Devil's Breath Part 8 [3:45 min]
Looking for more intimate experience(s) with Scopolamine, interview with young man — a former gangster himself — who gave all his posessions to a scopoloamine gang, and who lost a friend to the drug on that same occassion. - Colombian Devil's Breath Part 9 [3:31 min]
Reveal of what was purchased during the drug deal, wearing masks, and continued interview with the tough about his vengeance. The hipsters flush the drug, fearful after what they'd heard. - Biopsychiatry of the Borrachero Tree
My father has mentioned burundanga with mythological respect and fear. It truly sounds like a magic potion with a menacing aura.
