Sabbatical project: Critical Toys

R: I'm on sabbatical from my teaching. It has been a very busy last few months, with presentations at conferences in New York at Games For Change, and Los Angeles at Siggraph Sandbox. In between my collaborators in Pixels, Programming, Play and Pedagogy and I held the second Teacher Game Institute (TGI) and the third Pixels Programming & Play summer game development camp. I'm trying to clear my desk and clear my head so that I can start on a new thread of creative research.

I've proposed to explore an area that I'm calling Critical Toys. I've made a pilot investigation through the "(in)Action Figure" project (http://rafaelfajardo.com/projects/inaction.html). I'm drawing on some precedents. The first one that comes to my head is the Barbie Liberation Front created by ®™ark. I'm not ready to share more than that right now.
