Game Log
In the last 48 hours:
- Michael Grave's Marble Solitaire: Natasha and Alejandro gave this to the boys. It is a cruciform solitaire game where one has 45 spaces and 44 marbles. One jumps marbles like in Chinese Checkers, removing the marble that has been jumped. The goal is to leave only one marble. I managed to leave only three marbles my first attempt, and haven't been able to match that score since. Esteban and Diego's personal bests are also three marbles each. Diego is especially captivated, and he sticks his toungue part way out when he's concentrating. Karin has beaten us all by leaving only two marbles.
- First Lego League, Colorado State Tournament: Esteban and his team competed in the First Lego League Ocean Challenge along with nearly one-thousand other participants. Their first outing was their best, with a score of 144 points. Their school brought home a teamwork trophy (made entirely of yellow Lego blocks!) and they all had great fun learning about watersheds and programming Lego MindStorms.
- Harvest Moon for GBC: Diego
- A Yoshi game for GBA that has a postition sensor built into the cartridge: Diego
- Barroom Shuffleboard (alternatively known as Shuffle Puck?): Esteban,Diego and me. We were at a grown-up party for a friend. The boys needed a productive distraction. I taught them the rules that I'm familiar with - they may not be the "tournament" rules, but they let us have some fun together. Esteban and Diego played against each other until their skills matched, and then I challenged them. Esteban was able to beat me twice. Diego and I tied.
- Maya and Miguel Table Soccer: This is a bilingual cartoon merchandise distributed by Wendy's with their kid's meals. I had high hopes for it, but it's not nearly so fun as Fifa! Fo! Fum! (shameless plug) because one has to score from one's own half of the field. It's more like bombardment with goals. Still, Diego and I had some fun with it.
- Kirby Air Ride for Game Cube: Diego and me. Diego wanted me to have fun while I learned the interface so he waited for me. He let me win a couple of races and then we did free exploration in one of the cityscapes. He found a secret passage when we crashed some boulders. We also managed to unlock a purple Kirby through our explorations, but I'm not sure how.
